Storm-Damaged Driveway Gate Replacement in Ellijay, GA
Some projects don't end when the original installation is completed.
North Georgia Fence Company originally installed this beautiful custom metal art driveway gate at an Ellijay property in February 2024. The gate was fabricated by JDR Metal Art(opens in new tab) and became a distinctive part of the property's entrance.
Recently, a severe storm brought down a tree directly onto the gate, completely destroying it.
The homeowner contacted us again, and because she had been so pleased with the original installation, the goal was straightforward: restore the entrance with an exact replacement of the gate she already loved.
Customer Problem: A Fallen Tree Destroyed the Gate
The automatic gate system had performed reliably since the original installation. Unfortunately, no gate is designed to withstand a tree falling directly onto it.
The storm damage was extensive, leaving the custom gate itself beyond practical repair.
Because this was not an ordinary stock gate, simply finding a similar replacement wasn't the preferred solution. The homeowner wanted to restore the entrance she had before the storm.
Site Inspection
After evaluating the damage, we determined what would be required to restore the entrance while preserving the appearance and function of the original installation.
The existing gate had been specifically selected for the property, so replacing it with a generic gate would have changed the character of the entrance.
Fortunately, we were able to return to the original gate manufacturer and order the same design.
Diagnosis: Replacement Was the Best Solution
The damage to the gate was too extensive to justify attempting to rebuild it in place.
Instead, North Georgia Fence Company ordered an exact duplicate replacement from JDR Metal Art. Because these are custom-fabricated gates rather than mass-produced stock gates, there was a production backlog and the replacement took a couple of months to arrive.
Once the new gate was delivered, we scheduled the installation and began restoring the entrance.

The replacement preserved the distinctive metal-art appearance of the original installation while allowing us to reuse and restore the surrounding automatic gate system where appropriate.

Repair & Installation Process
Installing the replacement involved more than simply hanging the new gate.
We carefully fitted and aligned the new gate with the existing entrance and automatic gate system. The hinge work required welding and careful adjustment to provide proper movement and alignment.
We also repaired the keypad post and paid attention to the existing access-control equipment, including cleaning the keypad and camera as part of returning the entrance to a finished condition.
Those details mattered to the homeowner—and they matter to us.
After installation and adjustment, the system was tested to make sure the replacement gate operated correctly before the project was considered complete.
Final Result
The finished entrance once again looks much like it did before the storm.
More importantly, this was our second installation for the same homeowner. She trusted North Georgia Fence Company with the original project in 2024 and called us again when circumstances beyond anyone's control destroyed the gate.
